Day 4 – Winnipeg, City of Hipsters

Apologies to anyone from Winnipeg who may take offense to the title, but it’s true from my observations!  I got here a little early (take that Google Maps and my GPS.  I WIN!) so I decided to wander the city.  Although I found myself in Osborne Village (which is FULL of hipsters), when I left (got some nice shots from that area actually) I drove around the city… and lo and behold MORE HIPSTERS! EVERYWHERE!  Kids are hipsters, younger adults… only full adults were.. well..  regular middle classers.  Not a bad thing, mind.  Just something I noticed.

More after the jump

Day 2 – Calgary pt. 2

One thing they don’t warn you about when going on road trips is that your cell phone dies quicker!  Why is this you ask?  (If you didn’t… shut up! That’s why!)  Anyway, since you keep going from service areas to out of service areas.  This makes your phone work harder so it eats away at battery life quicker… so when I got to Calgary last night I was down to one bar… and I left my charger at home!!  Luckily, it’s not like I’m in the bush.  Got a car and wall charger today (Alberta’s GST only thing is mega).  Did some camera shopping too.

Warning!  GEEK TALK AHEAD!

Day 1 – The Drive and Calgary

Calgary.. at last…  Great drive coming here!  Lots of twists and turns, tons of fun.  The sights were amazing!  I would have enjoyed them more if A) It was nicer weather or B) I wasn’t driving.  Great drive nevertheless.  I didn’t get as much shooting done as I would have liked since I was on a bit of a time constraint.  12 hours of traveling is actually pretty tight.  I did manage to stop by a little touristy spot where the last iron spike was driven for the CN Railway.  No portraits this day…  One failure at a time!
