Portrait and High Fashion with Spiffy

Last month my friend Tiffani (yes with an “i”), a hobbiest photographer, asked if I would do a portrait session for her.  She had done some portrait work in the past, but she wanted to see what it was like on the other side of the lens.

Why?  I don’t know.  I personally don’t like having my photo taken… but I guess that’s a common trait with a lot of insecure photographers… moving on!

More after the jump

I also needed some high fashion/beauty images added to my portfolio so I proposed that we would do a regular studio portrait session, but I would also like to throw her into the hands of one of my make-up artists, Amy, for some high fashion work.  Odd request considering she had never modelled in her life!  But, I thought it would be fun.

The portrait session went well enough.   Although she was pretty nervous I think Tiffani played very well to the camera.  I managed to get a lot of great images.

After our casual session Amy got her grubby mitts on Tiffani and to begin the long process of fashioning an Asian girl’s hair.

After a bit of time, what seemed to be a hundred bobby pins and a couple cans of hair spray we finally got Tiffani ready!  She had this amazing black leather jacket that fit very well with her black dress.

Gotta love the Hello Kitty ring.

One regret I had afterwards was not lighting her legs enough.  We had purposefully chosen this pair of pink/magenta shoes to go with the stark blackness of the dress.  But, it just looks like she’s wearing dark shoes and stockings.  But, don’t tell anyone.

I think she did really well.  What do you think?

i agree! super pretty!

Love the hello kitty ring, and the high fashion shots rock!
